Congratulations, Executive MBA class of 2017!

The graduation ceremony of the Executive MBA class of ‘17 was held in late April.

Whenever the programme ends, both the students and the faculty members involved in their education have mixed feelings. On the one hand, they are enormously pleased about everything they have achieved, the growth they have experienced at all levels, and the excitement of a new phase in life; on the other hand, they are somewhat sad about leaving behind a group that has contributed to the personal and professional development of each participant, and about the end of an era that marked a turning point in their lives.

As class representatives Kseniya and Don confessed, the 45 participants, with their diverse range of backgrounds, profiles and objectives, “started out as a class of students and ended up like family”.

That just about says it all. Congratulations to all of you, and I hope these months are just the beginning of a lifetime of successes and achievements, both personal and professional.

What I learned from my 18 month long Executive MBA at ESADE Business School

Published in Linkedin Pulse by Juan Luis Isava, ESADE Executive MBA 2016:

“The purpose of this small essay is to reflect on what you can expect from Executive Education from a top business school. This is not part of the debate on whether it’s worth it or not, rather than to enlighten on what to expect once you’ve made up your mind.

Spending money on education nowadays is a tough one: information has never been more available than it is now, so learning whatever you want to learn should be easier than ever. And it actually is. So why should one do it?

Before starting my Executive Education I was expecting to receive the following (yes, in this particular order):

  • New people in my circles: I hoped to find freaks like me who thought that changing the world was only a matter of heart and time and in their experience, find what I value the most: perspective.
  • Learning something new: This I love, specially if it was something finance related with a global perspective.
  • Alumni networking: Having a close circle of freshly acquired partners in crime is one thing, being part of something bigger all over the world, is another.

So, a few weeks still with the whole experience fresh in my memories…”

A celebration of talent at the Graduation Ceremony for the 14th Executive MBA in Madrid

The venue —  Casa de América — was decked out for the graduation ceremony for the 14th ESADE Executive MBA programme in Madrid, held on the 3rd of June 2016. The event was a sea of smiling faces and fond embraces as the graduands celebrated their success.

Student delegates Jorge Munir and Myriam Ramos stressed that the sixteen-month programme had been an intense learning experience at both the personal and professional levels. They thanked each of their fellow students and teachers with a few well-chosen words. They also expressed their deep gratitude to graduands’ families, saying “We wish to share our success with our families because they also helped to make it possible”.

After congratulating the students, Michele Quintano, Director of the programme in Madrid, moved on to awarding the diplomas — the high point of any graduation ceremony during which each graduand is warmly applauded and cheered by the congregation.

The keynote speaker at the graduation ceremony for the 14th Executive MBA programme in Madrid was Daniel Carreño, President and CEO of General Electric in Spain and Portugal. Carreño’s speech focused on the way digitalisation is transforming the industrial world. In his words, “We are not living in an Age of Changes but rather seeing the dawn of a New Age”. He also noted that in today’s industrial setting, one needs to be flexible and to bear in mind that talent is one of the keys to success.

The crowning moment of this very special day was a musical performance and commemorative video, in which the graduands thanked ESADE faculty for their unwavering support during the whole adventure in education. Michele Quintano was given a T-shirt by the new ESADE Alumni as a token of their gratitude. Michele reciprocated by donning the garment in a thrice.

It only remains for us to wish this year’s crop of talented graduates of the Executive MBA programme in Madrid every success in their careers. Here we cite the words of the Director of ESADE Madrid, Enrique Verdeguer: “The real path begins now. We hope to share it with you”.

Congratulations!
